Sheet pan recipes are the best because, as you may have guessed, they’re made entirely on one sheet pan. They’re generally quick to prep and even quicker to clean up which makes them one of our favorite ways to get dinner on the table. They’re also great for meal prep sessions because you can either make them from start to finish for an easy reheat and eat meal later or you can prep all of the ingredients like a restaurant prep cook would do to be assembled and baked when it’s time to eat.

We use both methods depending on how much time we have on the weekend for meal prepping. We find that reheat and eat meals are great for lunches but we often prefer a hot, freshly cooked meal for dinners so these 30 Whole30 Sheet Pan Meals work great for both situations.

What size sheet pan for sheet pan dinners? ›

The right baking sheet to use for sheet pan dinners is called a half-sheet pan. It's made of heavy-gauge metal, measures 18 by 13 inches, and has a 1-inch rim all the way around. It's sturdy enough to take high oven heat — and sometimes broiler heat if your recipe calls for it.

What is the basic of sheet pan dinners? ›

A sheet pan takes the concept of a one-pot meal and flips it onto a pan. It saves time, makes clean-up easier, and doesn't require expensive equipment or fancy ingredients. Just start with your protein of choice, then add vegetables, fat and flavorings, and roast at high heat until everything is golden brown.

When should you use a sheet tray instead of a cookie sheet? ›

Baking sheet pans have rolled edges with a lip around the entire pan, whereas cookie sheets do not. Baking sheets are often used for roasting and other savory preparations. Baking sheets can also be used for very shallow cakes, like those used for jelly rolls. Baking sheets can be used for cookies.

What temperature do you cook sheet pan dinners? ›

Temperatures range from 375-400°F for sheet pan meals. Depending on the vegetables and protein you've chosen, it may take anywhere from 35-45 minutes to cook thoroughly. Remember if you've chosen something you know will overcook in that period, you want to add it in later on in the cooking time.

Can you use parchment paper for sheet pan meals? ›

Aluminum foil and parchment paper are your friends.

Line the pan with either foil or parchment before cooking to help make clean-up easy! Remember: If you're broiling, do not use parchment paper, which can catch fire. Go with the foil, and mist it with cooking spray to prevent food from sticking.

What is the difference between a baking sheet and a sheet pan? ›

A Baking Sheet—also referred to as a sheet pan—is one of the most versatile pieces of bakeware that you can own. These handy kitchen tools come in a rectangular shape, which makes them ideal for use in a standard kitchen oven.

What does a full sheet pan look like? ›

Full Sheet

A full-sheet pan measures 26-by-18 inches and typically has sides that are about one inch high. They're generally too large for practical home use—in fact they won't fit in many home ovens.

Can you put food directly on sheet pan? ›

You don't really need to line the pan

“I throw stuff directly on the sheet pan and then when you go to stir or scrape it up with a spatula or wooden spoon, you get all that flavor that's on the bottom of the pan up into the dish,” says Pelzel.

What is a jelly roll sheet? ›

A jelly roll pan is a 10 by 15 inch pan with a one-inch lip, which makes it perfect for baking a Swiss roll or jelly roll—a thin sponge cake that is rolled into a cylinder (usually with thin layer of jelly or cream) to create an elegant spiraled cake design.

Do you cover sheet pan meals with foil? ›

We recommend foil over parchment paper for sheet pan cooking. As it conducts heat, foil can help accelerate the cooking process and help browning.

Do you cover a tray bake with foil? ›

Cover dishes

Loosely placing or tenting a sheet of foil over a dish can prevent the top from browning while the rest of your dish continues to bake. If you're looking to create more steam in the baking process, sealing the dish tightly with a foil lid will do the trick.

Can you use foil for sheet pan dinners?

Should I cover my baking sheet with foil? ›

Aluminum foil is safe for oven use, making it great for lining baking sheets. But you should not line the bottom of the oven with foil to catch spills and drips because it can melt in high heat and damage the oven.
