Product: Envy 4500
My USB EAnvy 4500 prints only second or third lines in black. Othertimes it prints a whole text but it is fuzzy.
The alignment page won't print right so I can't align the cartridge so I can't print the test page, etc.

@Dur123,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues while printing from your HP Envy printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Did it happen recently after replacing the ink cartridges?
Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?
Have you tried to clean the ink cartridge contacts as well as the printhead?
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.
If the copy comes out bad, this clearly indicates a possible hardware failure with the printer. Before you could contact our HP phone support for further assistance, I would suggest you follow these steps here:
I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for -HP Inkjet Printers - 'Alignment Unsuccessful' Error Message Displays
Alternatively, you can also go through this link:HP Deskjet 3540, ENVY 4500 Printers - Black Ink Not Printing and other Print Quality Issues
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Eagerly waiting for your response!

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

During the month of March, I spent a good deal of time getting a range of advice. I tried every test
imaginable. Finally, a fellow said the black not printing was a hardware problem. I approved of his solution.
So I bought an identical printer, put in my recently opened HP XL cartridge, and the copying was
just like before. I again tried multiple fixes. Then I put the newly included sample black cartridge in my old machine and it worked fine. Turns out, the entire issue was a FAULTY HP INK CARTRIDGE.
I know HP/Forum advises to try a different cartridge, but I was not about to do that, given the expense and given a sealed one was just opened. Now to pack and ship back the new printer. So, I appreciate the suggestions from everyone.
Obviously, I wish I did not get so sidetracked for so long by bad ink.

Mine just started doing the same thing! I changed the ink cartridges that I bought from Costco. Same place I bought the printer and it still does it. Then I tried to make a copy of a print document and the copy also comes out with lines skipped or blurry.
I tried to unplug and replug, as stated, and it's still skipping. I changed the cartridges again, this is getting very expensive, and still skips.
Is there a way to fix this?
