How much fuel should I order if I want to fill my tank?

Almost all KBJ Propane tanks have a gauge located on the tank. Most propane tank gauges read anywhere from 5% to 90%. To determine how much gas is in your propane tank, multiply the outage reading by the capacity of the tank.

For example:
A 500-gallon propane tank at 40% = 500 x 0.4 = 200 gallons remaining in the tank.

PLEASE NOTE: These figures are approximate and can only be used to determine estimated gallons in the tank. Temperature and gauge accuracy may make some readings unreliable. And remember, if your tank gauge reads less than 30%, be sure to give us a call or order online to schedule a fill-up right away!

1. Check your tank gauge

Whether your heating oil tank is aboveground outdoors, or in your basem*nt, you can look on top of the tank for a device similar to the one shown here:

Note: To allow for fuel expansion and safe deliveries, an oil tank holds slightly less fuel than its official full capacity. For example, with a 275-gallon tank, the actual usable capacity ranges from 250-256 gallons. Please keep this in mind when placing your order.
